ABOUT THE CONFERENCE

CCPOP-Ghana is an international conference that has provided a sustained platform on climate change and population issues on Africa through a global perspective since 2012. The conference  convenes scientists and researchers, policymakers, politicians, practitioners, civil society and development actors to share lessons in building Africa’s resilience to climate change. The 2026 Conference (CCPOP-Ghana 2026) will be under the theme “Our Health in Peril”,as rising temperatures, shifting rainfall, and extreme events are already reshaping disease patterns, straining health systems, and deepening vulnerabilities across Africa.

The conference will explore how these climate pressures affect population health and health system resilience, in a trans-disciplinary context, through innovative methods, and harmonised data frameworks suited to African contexts. This includes speaking to the WHO Operational Framework, SOSCHI, and the Belem Health Action Plan, in mainstreaming climate actions that protect health under growing climatic risk.
